Fungus and Disease

A turf disease is the interaction between turf and a pathogen (fungus) that disrupts normal growth and appearance. When environmental conditions such as moisture and temperature are just right, the interaction can rapidly devastate a lawn.

There are several diseases that can affect our local turf:

• Leafspot
• Dollarspot
• Brown Patch
• Pythium
• Take-All Patch

Once damage is visible, it’s important to have a turf care professional make the diagnosis and correct fungicide treatment to stop the spread of the disease. In severe cases, two applications may be needed.

Disease can be avoided or limited with proper fertilization, mowing, and irrigation practices.
